Fast forward some ten years later and here I am, laying in the operating room awaiting surgery on my knee for ACL reconstruction. This is knee surgery number two and my anger and frustration are beyond what any words can describe.

At the time of this ACL surgery, I had already spent 13 years (half of my life) training harder than anyone else and I was painfully confused. Before they put me to sleep for surgery I demanded of myself that I will do everything in my power to help other Grapplers, MMA fighters and combat athletes avoid ALL my mistakes so they can fulfill their dreams of becoming the best at what they do!
This journey of research and application for combat training methods has taken me through many sleepless nights of research and hundreds of hours of application from training countless combat athletes with these newfound methods.
Little by little I began documenting these underground methods onto paper while testing them in the trenches. The manual started with slightly over 100 pages but quickly evolved into a massive 'Underground' manual of 273 pages and over 6 months of 'Underground' workouts.
After several months of guiding combat athletes with these Underground methods, others began to take notice and realized that this training would be of great benefit, regardless of their sport. I just received The Ancient Training Methods DVD and Kettelbell DVD. I just wanted you to know, I think they are Fantastic!! I can't wait to start using some of the methods. About 6 or 7 months ago I started to train steadily with Zach in an effort to improve my overall athleticism. Before this time I was training like a bodybuilder and I looked strong, but I honestly did not feel it was giving me the return in exchange for all the time and effort I spent in the gym.

When Zach trained me, we started attacking the whole body in a short period of time, 45 minutes max. This style of training has totally changed my whole outlook on strength training! My joints no longer ache throughout the day, and I have increased my strength, speed and power big time!

I just graduated the police academy and the entire time I was in the academy I was training under Zach's guidance. I sometimes would only be able to work out once a week due to my hectic schedule, but he gave me a program to follow with out the weights, he called it farm boy training. I did these workouts in my back yard. They were short but brutally effective, helping me out perform all the other recruits, ultimately winning the PT honors award, breaking some very long standing PT records at the academy!
I wish I used this style of training when I wrestled in high school and college & I highly reccomend Zach's training for anyone who is serious about getting serious results!

By the way, I highly recommend this book because it truly is the most comrehensive book I've read yet on the subject of Strength & Conditioning as it relates to combat sports. I have tons of S&C books as well so there ya go.
I'm a huge fan of Farmboy training as well (which is covered extensively) and have had sandbags, large stones and buckets full of sand in my garage for years! Now I know exactly how to put them to good use! Great stuff!

Just a quick note. Love your Gladiator Training Manual & Ancient Training Methods DVD! I went to the tire yard and picked up some tires for dragging & flipping. Some of my guys were interested in what I was doing and what could be done with a small tire. Well, after showing them some of the moves and the dragging variations they tried them. My strongest player did some of the rows and presses and he loved it. Others did the dragging and their legs were toast.
Most of the guys love the grappler and strong man training that we learned from your Gladiator Training Manual more than normal weights. Best thing is more guys are working out now on the team than ever before! I have some other players wanting to train this way now as well!

Hey Zach,
Just wanted to say I am very pleased with your Gladiator Book! I have been using your training methods since I received your book and can't say enough good things about it. My squat, bench and dead lift have gone up almost 20 pounds a piece without even training them on a consistent basis. My overall conditioning has increased tremendously with regards to grappling, fighting, etc. I know it will better prepare me for anything I encounter on my job.
Most people dont realize that running 2 miles, traditional weight training, or calisthenics does not prepare one for a life or death struggle.
I have been training for almost 27 years and have been looking for something like this for a long time. I can't say enough how much this has changed the thinking and beliefs of my buddies as well as prepare me to face the everyday challenges I face. My mind set has always been right but now my training has brought that to an even greater level.

Hi Zach,
I received your Combat Kit early last week, and it rocks! Just got done with a somewhat killer workout after having to take off a couple weeks because of a very nasty cold. It felt good to blow the crap out of my lungs! I only had the gas to do three exercises - step ups, walking lunges, and farmer's walk with two 88lb. KB's. All were for a minute each with a minute rest between all sets and exercises. I wanted to do tire flips after but the farmer's walk did me in. My forearms felt like they'd explode!
Anyway Zach, I really enjoy your training info, and your interview was impressive also. Thanks for pushing me back into more "farm boy" type workouts!
